Restarting your router can often fix slow speeds or connection drops. Don’t worry – this is not the same as a factory reset (which erases your settings).
To reboot safely:
- Switch off the power
- Locate the power button on the back of your router (or switch it off at the plug).
- Wait around 30 seconds – This gives the router time to fully power down.
- Turn it back on – Press the power button again (or switch the plug back on).
- Wait 2–3 minutes for the lights to stabilise and your devices to reconnect.
That’s it! Your Wi-Fi name and password will stay the same, and your devices should reconnect automatically.
You may want to reboot any other equipment you have, such as a network switch or range extender during this time as well – same process applies by simply powering off and back on again after 30 seconds.
Important:
Do not press the small reset pinhole button on the back of your router unless instructed by support—this performs a factory reset and wipes your settings. If rebooting doesn’t fix the issue, check for service updates on our status page or contact support.
