Using AI to build your website
In a world where AI is becoming the “norm”, will you be Using AI to build your website?
Do you trust that AI will have your best interests at heart (so to speak)?
We know you can enter a few prompts into AI for it to automatically generate a bunch of text for you to use on your website. But have you double-checked? Does it make sense? Does it read like a human wrote it? Or is it obvious that AI created it for you?
This is the problem that AI-built websites pose. Is it obvious to your customers and potential customers that you couldn’t be bothered to take the time to create your website’s information?
Does it look like you have willy-nilly thrown your website together without any thought for user experience?
Now, I know it may seem as though I’m bashing AI, and I guess I am a little. However, there are some positives to using AI.
In the past, I have used AI to help me get creative and to give me inspiration to write content or even just to get me started, and for this, AI can be a great help.
But would I be using AI to build my website…. Hell no!!!
If I had to have my website built, I would much prefer to build a relationship with the person developing my site. The ability to call them and talk about ideas together and get some feedback from the person who has experience in web design.
Here are two examples. First one, I’m going to ask AI to create a short about me text for my pet grooming service based in Halesowen.
“Welcome to our pet grooming service in Halesowen! We’re here to help your pets look their best with simple grooming services like bathing, trimming, and nail care. We focus on keeping your pets comfortable and aim to send them home looking great and feeling happy. It’s all about providing a straightforward, friendly service for you and your furry friends.”
Here’s one written by a human.
“Welcome to Woofing Great Cutz, where we specialise in keeping your dogs’ coats in clipping great condition. As a family-run business from Halesowen, we take huge pride in what we do, and we treat every pup as one of our family. From pup baths to pup grooms and everything in between. We love what we do. Book your pup in today. You can wait with your pup with a free coffee whilst we pamper your pup.”
With the two examples, you can tell the one written by a human. Yes, I agree it is not as long, but you can easily tell the difference.
So, my point is that AI isn’t bad, but it’s not human. It doesn’t have that personal touch. It has no sense of pride or passion and is just a robot.
AI don’t feel pain. We do! Ai can’t be bargained with. It can’t be reasoned with. It Doesn’t feel pity or remorse or fear, and it absolutely will not stop.
